What to do with the bill of sale once it’s printed
Florida title transfers go through Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). Follow these steps in order.
- Fill in every field on the bill of sale, including odometer reading and odometer status.
- Both seller and buyer sign and date. Florida does not require notarization for standard private sales.
- Print two copies — one each for buyer and seller.
- Seller files a Notice of Sale (Form HSMV 82050 — same form, top section) with FLHSMV to release liability.
- Buyer brings the signed title, this bill of sale, proof of insurance, and fees to a county tax collector office within 30 days.
