How vehicle paperwork works in Ohio
Ohio title transfers are processed at the County Clerk of Courts — not the Ohio BMV. The seller's signature on the title must be notarized. Buyers have 30 days to apply for a new title. Sales tax is 5.75% state rate plus the local county rate. Residents in select northeast Ohio counties need an E-Check emissions test.
